The Polish Oil and Gas Institute – National Research Institute (Instytut Nafty i Gazu-Państwowy Instytut Badawczy) is contributing to WP2, chiefly on long-term monitoring of CCS sites alongside data management and integrated properties calibration. It is also involved in WP4 with a focus on wellbore-based mechanical sensors.

It is one of the oldest research institutes in Poland, reporting to the Ministry of Energy and responding to the needs of the Polish oil and gas industry. It has carried out work on resources and hydrocarbon fuels management as well as energy-related safety. Its expertise has contributed to discovering and exploiting new oil and natural gas resources in Poland and to mastering technologies necessary for their processing, transportation and modification.

The institute has been involved in acid gas reinjection and sequestration in the Borzecin structure since the beginning of operations in 1995. In addition, it was involved in various research activities to identify and assess geological structures suitable for sequestration projects.
