US and Canada
SECURe, an EU H2020 project, is developing new techniques and good practice for environmental monitoring of CCUS and shale gas projects. As part of this, the team has organised a fact-finding visit to the US and Canada to identify examples of good practice in CO2 storage and unconventional hydrocarbons (shale gas) projects from different perspectives.
During the 10-day trip, the group of senior social and geoscientists from our partner research centres will visit a number of organisations and sites to discuss various topics, including: regulatory, operational and local community perspectives; current understanding of ‘good practice’ for monitoring site performance; any existing knowledge gaps; communications and stakeholder engagement
Findings from the visit will feed back to the main project to guide the development of new techniques and good practice for environmental monitoring of CCUS and shale gas projects.
We will be posting news, feature articles and interviews from the visit on our dedicated news feed.
