Edward Hough is the Co-ordinator of the SECURe project consortium. He leads the British Geological Survey’s shale gas research and has an interest in the links between geological variability of shales and the amount of hydrocarbons they host. Ed has researched the geology of north-west England for twenty years; this area includes several exploration license blocks with shale gas interest, and includes sites of hydraulically fractured shale gas exploration wells. Ed has appeared on BBC TV and Radio discussing geological aspects of shale, including the resource in Britain and possible impacts associated with hydraulic fracturing. He was EAGE-SPE Special Lecturer, Shale Gas Perspectives, and sits on the EuroGeoSurveys GeoEnergy Expert Group.
As well as project co-ordination, Ed will also be contributing to the development of good practice for unconventional gas production in Work Package 6.
